The Learning Centre for Hamilton
The Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation Learning Centre for Hamilton provides free Orton-Gillingham tutoring to children with dyslexia. Tutoring sessions are held twice weekly (Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday), each session lasting one hour. The program generally takes two to three years to complete. To date 12 children have graduated from the program.
The Learning Centre for Hamilton is part of a national program of nine learning centres supported by the Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation of Canada. The Learning Centre has received generous support from the bodies of the Scottish Rite, Masonic Lodges, Eastern Star Chapters, corporations and individuals. The Learning Centre for Hamilton is totally dependent on donations to continue providing tutoring at no cost to the child or the family.
The Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation
The Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation of Canada is a private charitable Foundation registered with Revenue Canada under Letters Patent of Incorporation (1964), funded by donations and bequests from the members of The Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of Canada. The Foundation labours for the benefit of all Canadians, regardless of race or creed. Over the years millions of dollars have been disbursed to assist dedicated researchers in a search for the causes and cure of cognitive impairment.
Because of the support of the Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation, and other donors, there is no charge for tutoring to the child or their family.

IMSLEC Accreditation
The Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation Learning Centre for Hamilton received accreditation from IMSLEC - the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council in 2023, making it the first Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation Learning Centre in Canada to receive this internationally recognized accreditation.
